When gingivitis is not treated, it progresses to a more severe condition known as periodontitis.

When an individual doesn’t maintain proper oral hygiene, bacteria accumulate on the tooth surfaces, forming biofilm (dental plaque), leading to gum inflammation (gingivitis). Therefore, the simplest advice is to maintain regular oral hygiene with consistent brushing using an appropriate toothbrush for your mouth, complemented by dental floss or tape, and finishing with a mouth rinse.
